From the same vendor as the porcelain vase which made £29, 000 in our previous sale came an early Chinese bronze sensor, probably Ming period, with seal mark to base, which fetched £16,000 (lot 566). Also from the same owner was an early Chinese jade libation cup which sold for £5200 (lot 575). From a large single owner of militaria came a pair of 40 bore flintlock duelling pistols which realised £2700 (lot 153), a pair of percussion side hammer belt pistols fetched £1050 (lot 194) and an unusual late 19th/early 20th Century Royal Navy deck mounting for a machine gun made £1050 (lot 192). Other highlights in the sale included a 18ct white gold emerald cut solitaire diamond ring which brought £4200 (lot 411), a Rolex oyster perpetual gentleman’s wristwatch which fetched £2600 (lot 423), a pair of Regency mahogany night stands made £2500 (lot 923), a 19th Century Canton brush pot sold for £2000 (lot 265), a Britannia gold proof coin collection went above expectation at £1600 (lot 14) and a pair of Regency mahogany hall chairs brought £1080 (lot 900) (below) |
