The November sale
got off to a good start with the Silver and Jewellery Section
for which there was lot of interest. A small silver caddy spoon by
Omar Ramsden fetched £3500 (lot 123) and a large Sheffield silver
rectangular presentation two handled tray sold for £950 (lot 83).
Other highlights included an Omar Ramsden small hexagonal bowl which
fetched £780 (122), a George III silver three piece tea service made
£550 (lot 135) and a Victorian silver vinaigrette by Nathanial Mills
realised £540 (lot 148). Highlights of the Jewellery section
included an 18ct white gold diamond ring with princess cut diamond,
3 carats in total, which sold for £4800 (276), a 18ct white gold
three stone diamond ring 3.74ct fetched £2900 (lot 261) and an 18ct
white gold three stone diamond ring fetched £1450 (lot 189).
Highlights of the Picture section included John White, A Time
of Promise, Branscombe , in Devon, which fetched £1200 (lot 515),
together with another similar John White, View of Branscombe, which
fetched £400 (lot 514). A highlight of the Works of Arts
section was a late 18th or early 19th Century
Chinese cloisonné moon flask vase which realised £7500 (lot 535).
Highlights of the Clock section included a George III
mahogany longcase clock by J N Price of Chichester, which fetched
£1100 (lot 643) and an early 19th Century patinated
bronze gothic revival bracket clock by Edgcumbe, Bristol, which
fetched £880 (lot 645). Highlights of the Antique Furniture
section included a Sheraton revival Edwardian painted bonheur
du jour
making £820 (lot 750), a 17th Century oak chest in two
parts which fetched £1500 (lot 898), a George I walnut chest on
chest made £1400 (lot 798), a George II walnut chest on stand
realised £1000 (lot 819), a serpentine commode chest fetched £860
(lot 756) and a
Challen mahogany
cased baby grand piano, retailed by Harrods sold for
£1050 (lot 705).
