The one thousand lot sale began with over two hundred lots of
Silver, to include an Oriental white metal filigree and enamel
decorated card case fetching £440, a Continental white metal model
in the form of a cockerel together with two similar which sold for
£230, a George V silver large octagonal tray made £440, a Victorian
silver candelabra attracted £660 and an Art Deco silver four-piece
tea and coffee service sold for £400. In the Watches section an
18ct.gold pocket watch fetched £430 and an 18ct.gold Rolex Oyster
Perpetual Chronometer Gentleman’s wristwatch made£1500. The two
hundred lots of Jewellery included an 18ct. white gold, diamond and
sapphire ring fetching £980, from the House of Igor Carl Faberge a
royal blue enamel and central sapphire and diamond mounted cross,
together with a pair of matching earrings attracted £340, a gold 20
dollar coin with mount sold for £500, a group of four 19th Century
micro mosaic tablets fetched in excess of £1300 and the hammer fell
at £2700 for an 18ct.gold and diamond encrusted necklace.
The Ceramics section included an 18th Century Chinese oval tureen
and cover fetching £1200 and another similar armorial Chinese tureen
and cover made £1000 proving the Chinese market to still be strong.
A Victorian porcelain table clock in the form of an owl sold for
£360, a large 19th Century porcelain rectangular plaque made £300, a
Victorian cranberry glass epergne fetched £230 and an impressive
19th Century glass four-branch candelabra brought £400. A Royal
Worcester reticular ewer decorated by George John and unfortunately
damaged, still obtained £500, a large 19th Century Meissen porcelain
group, again with unfortunate damage, fetched £460 and another large
19th Century Meissen porcelain figure, ‘The Gardener’ again, with
damage, obtained £440.
The Picture and Books included a good pair of late 19th/early 20th
Century Neapolitan gouache by Guianni reaching £1000. Highlights in
the Works of Art section included a 19th Century rosewood and
marquetry inlaid Swiss musical box which made £360 and an unusual
set of twenty Japanese Makiye Lacquer samples which finally reached
£2700.
The highlights of the Furniture section included a George I walnut
chest on chest selling for £3200, a George III mahogany secretaire
bookcase making £700, a George III mahogany chest on chest gaining
£700, a 19th Century kingwood and marquetry inlaid envelope card
table fetched £680, a George I walnut chest on chest achieved £1000.
A good pair of George III yew and elm Windsor armchairs sold for
£880 and a Sheraton Revival painted satinwood three-seater sofa
settled at £750, a Regency mahogany D-end dining table made £850 and
the hammer fell at £550 for a Regency circular gilt frame wall
mirror .
