May  2007 Auction Report

 

May’s auction included a specialist collectors’ sale. The first section to be sold was Ceramics, with over 100 lots, to include a Royal Dux large comport fetching £340 and a Royal Doulton figure, The Boy Evacuee, fetching £180. The star lot of the section was a 19th Century majolica monkey teapot by Minton fetching £1550. The Silver & Jewellery section included an 18ct gold ring with rectangular emeralds surrounded by diamonds which sold for £1050, an 18ct white gold ring with central square diamond surrounded by diamonds fetching £800 and an 18ct white gold three stone diamond ring, approximately 1.1ct, made £880. The Militaria section had some interesting lots consigned from local vendors to include a pair of 18 bore flintlock duelling travelling pistols bringing £2800, a good late 18th Century English flintlock blunderbuss fetching £1400 and a Georgian flintlock long sea service pistol which sold for £920. There was a number of Naval & Marine items all consigned from one vendor, which made in excess of £4000. The Furniture section included an 18th Century walnut bureau with herringbone inlays, fetching £2200, a George III oak dresser made £1450, a Regency mahogany D-end dining table sold for £1200, a large mahogany breakfront bookcase made £1100, a Regency rosewood large library table fetched £1000, a Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase brought £840, a George III mahogany small chest sold for £900, a George III oak long dresser base fetched £980 and a George III mahogany bachelor’s chest made £580.
