The sale began with the Ceramics section, the highlights included a McIntyre Florian ware vase fetching £820 (lot 87), a late 18th Century Meissen tea service, fetching £650 (lot 98) and a Clarice Cliff crocus pattern coffee service fetching £500 (lot 113). Highlights of the Picture and Books included a pair of watercolours by Edwin St John fetching £480 (lot 189) one volume The Works of William Hogarth fetching £650 (lot 208) and a collection of first editions by Dick Francis fetching £640 (lot 205). Probably the highlight of the sale was a single owner collection of maps, which had its own section. This included a coloured map of the world (lot 221) fetching £3900, an 18th Century coloured map entitled Chinae fetching £2000 (lot 220), an 18th Century coloured map of Asia fetching £1100 (lot 219), another 17th Century coloured map by Coronelli, fetching £1050 (lot 223), a 17th Century coloured map of Cornwall by John Speed fetching £1000 (lot 227), another by John Speed fetching £1000 (lot 226). The Works of Art section had its highlights with a 19th Century Swiss musical box fetching £420 (lot 317), a Japanese carved ivory figure fetching £240 (lot 296), a 19th Century carved ivory puzzle ball fetching £210 (lot 295), a large patinated bronze model of a horse fetching £360 (lot 329), another similar of a classical winged figure fetching £460 (lot 330), a taxidermy zebra skin fetched £440 (lot 360), and a taxidermy model of two tench within a glazed cabinet fetched £400 (lot 367). The best of the Carpets and Rugs was a large woollen carpet fetching £1250 (lot 413). Notable in the Antique Furniture section were a George I elm and walnut chest fetching £1500 (lot 485), a good refectory oak dining table fetched £1600 (lot 582), a 19th Century mahogany partner’s desk fetched £2000 (lot 585), an early 19th Century mahogany Wellington chest fetched £2000 (lot 538), a George III mahogany serving table fetched £1000 (lot 563) and a William IV rosewood and parcel gilt large over mantel mirror fetched £750 (lot 564)
