January 2009 Auction Report
 

Despite the current financial downturn, the January sale was well attended by trade and private buyers alike. The auction started with the Ceramics section, the highlight of which was a first period Worcester large dessert service fetching £2300 (lot 99).
The Picture section included a watercolour by Charles Collins making £270 (lot 121) and another watercolour by Charles James Adams achieving £1150 (lot 122), an oil on canvas by Pierre de Clausade fetched £720 (lot 135).
The Jewellery section had its highlights with a platinum three stone diamond ring fetching £1700 (lot 170). The Works of Art section included a World War I Grenadier Guards casualty group of five medals which made £700 (lot 216) and a large fly fishing collection sold for £500 (lot 227).
The Clocks and Barometers section included a George IV rosewood and mother-of-pearl inlaid wall clock which made £1100 (lot 262). Highlights of the Furniture section included a William IV mahogany bookcase fetching £2200 (lot 364), a George III oak dresser reached £2000 (lot 293), a George II mahogany bureau cabinet achieved £1800 (lot 460), a Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase of small proportions fetched £1400 (lot 318), a Queen Anne walnut cabinet on stand fetched £1200 (lot 357), a William IV mahogany drum centre table fetched £1200 (lot 289) and an 18th Century walnut chest of drawers fetched £1100 (lot 308)
