February 2009 Auction Report

 

Highlights of the February Collectors’ Sale included a rare Doulton Bunnykins figure ‘Reggie’ together with another similar bunnykins figure fetching £1050. The Works of Art Section included a patinated bronze model of Mozart by A Gaudez that made £2900, a Goldscheider easel in the form of a Classical female that fetched £300, a taxidermy model of two chub that realised £600, and an interesting Victorian figured walnut cased stereograph viewer by Smith, Beck & Beck that fetched £1150. The Toys & Dolls Section included a large collection of Star Wars figures fetching in excess of £1000. Of note in the Militaria, Medals & Coins Section included a rare and unusual mid-19th Century bar hammer percussion revolving rifle making £2100, a pair of 19th Century liege pinfire cylinder saloon pistols achieving £980 and a good coin collection making in excess of £600. The Clocks & Barometers Section included a Regency mahogany bracket timepiece fetching £1050, a Victorian brass skeleton clock making £600 and another similar skeleton clock making £500. The Furniture Section comprised of a good early 19th Century mahogany extending dining table fetching £3000, a George III mahogany Serpentine commode chest making £700, a George III oak dresser making £1600, a William IV mahogany library partner’s table realising £1550, a George III mahogany crossbanded and marquetry inlaid longcase clock making £1400 and a George III mahogany chest on chest fetching £700
