Beswick Bedouin Arab upon horseback fetched £600

The highlight of the Ceramics was a large private collection of Beswick horses to include a
Bedouin Arab upon horseback fetching £600 (lot 57) a Beswick horse
‘Cardigan Bay’ fetching £240 (lot 64) another of a lifeguard fetching £390
(lot 65) and many other Beswick models of animals. Also in the
Ceramic section was a pair of Clarice Cliff Bizarre Oasis pattern salt
and peppers making £180 (lot 176) From a collection of Chinese
ceramics was a pair of 19th Century Chinese oviform lidded vases,
despite damage they fetched £300 (lot 177) From the same source
a pair of 19th Century hexagonal flasks made £260 (lot 180) A
very fine pair of Victorian Minton large oviform vases fetched £900 (lot 211)and a pair of
19th Century German porcelain lidded oviform pedestal vases
fetched £1000 (lot 212)
The Pictures & Books
heralded some interesting lots mainly from one source to include a
detailed coloured plan of St. Helena that making £260 (lot 261) and an 18th
Century coloured engraving depicting Admiral Nelson’s boarding reaching
£270 (lot 268) The Works of Art section provided some interesting highlights with a Victorian brass and
stain glass triple folding fireguard fetching £380 (lot 394) a C. Jeffries
concertina proving very popular at £3800(lot 362) and Jean Didier Debut, a
pair of French patinated models of Arabs fetching £820 lot 479.
Highlights of the Toys and Dolls included an early to mid 20th
Century live steam model making £480 (lot 541) a 19th Century
German porcelain group of Goldilocks & The Three Bears fetching £500 (lot
542) The Militaria, Medals & Coins had its highlights with a good 19th
Century Balinese Kris making £1650 (lot 602) an interesting mid 19th
Century trio of percussion travelling pistols fetching £650 (lot 621) and
an early 20th Century brass fire service helmet making £420
(lot 623) From a local private collection came an 1847 military general
service medal despite being converted into a brooch it fetched £700 (lot
657) A Royal Naval ship’s brass tompion made £360 (lot 671) The Clocks & Barometers had its highlights with a Victorian French
gilded brass three piece clock garniture fetching £500 (lot 686)
The Furniture section was once again showing real signs of a
recovery and has so now for the past year with highlights including an 18th
Century walnut chest fetching £500 (lot 777), a Victorian mahogany
wind-out extending dining table making £3100 (lot 802) a good set of six
Victorian mahogany balloon back dining room chairs fetching £420 (lot 801)
a Victorian mahogop table fetching £360 (lot 806) any serpentine three-tier buffet fetching £500 (lot 816)
a George III mahogany circular tilt-ta
George III mahogany satinwood demi-lune card table making £580 (lot 855)
and a globe wernicke oak six section bookcase fetching £440 (lot 880)
