The November sale included a specialist
Silver and Jewellery sale. The sale started with foreign metal
wares, and included an Indian white metal large oval tray fetching
£240 (lot 24). The modern silver included a fine twelve place setting
silver canteen of flatware by Garrard & Co, fetching £1900 (lot 49).
The Antique Silver included a George IV silver canteen of cutlery
fetching £320 (lot 92), a pair of early Victorian silver candlesticks
fetching £700 (lot 102) and a George III silver teapot fetching £260
(lot 85). Among the watches was a Rolex 18ct gold Oyster Perpetual
date chronometer gentleman’s wristwatch fetching £1950 (lot 119), a
Breitling gentleman’s steel cased wristwatch fetching £310 (lot 124),
a George III silver pair cased pocket watch fetching £300 (lot 112)
and a 9ct gold half hunter pocket watch with 9ct gold watch chain
fetching £350 (lot 110). Highlights of the jewellery included an
interesting gold bracelet set with some early George III gold coins
fetching £590 (lot 186), a pair of 18ct white gold claw set ear studs,
approximately 1.10cts, fetching £1000 (lot 229), an 18ct gold three
stone diamond ring, approximately 3cts, fetching £2000 (lot 187) and a
diamond encrusted floral spray sectional brooch fetching £3100 (lot
196). Highlights of the Ceramics and Glass included a Clarice
Cliff Bizarre Ware Blue Firs pattern part dinner service, despite
numerous losses, still fetched £1300 (lot 271), a Spode Trapnell
pattern extensive dinner service by T Goode & Co fetched £240 (lot
304) and a pair of large German floral encrusted girandole fetched
£1200 (lot 361) Highlights of the Pictures and Books included
an unusual set of six Indian cards , painted upon mica, fetching £640
(lot 398). Highlights of the Works of Art included a Jaques
chess set fetching £100 (lot 420), a George II silkwork purse, despite
damage, fetching £160 (lot 439) and a late 18th/early 19th Century
large Chinese hardstone figure fetching £520 (lot 512). Highlights of
the Clocks and Barometers included a late 19th Century French
brass cased carriage clock, fetching £320 (lot 521), a George III
mahogany stick barometer fetching £330 (lot 523), a 19th Century
French gilded and porcelain mantel clock fetching £640 (lot 535).
Highlights of the Furniture section included a George III oak
dresser fetching £2700 (lot 648) and a William IV mahogany pull-out
extending dining table fetching £5600 (lot 696). From the same source
a set of twelve Victorian mahogany dining chairs fetched £2500 (lot
697), and again from the same source a 19th Century Chinese rosewood
side table fetched £2000 (lot 698). Other highlights included a George
III oak dresser fetching £1800 (lot 715)
The sale also included various items donated for
Children in Need, the total coming to £338.
